2004

The Beginning – “Spread the Joy

First holiday food and toy drive for orphanages and underserved communities in Delmas, Haiti

Impact: 600 children celebrated with food, toys, and joy

2006–2007

Early Roots in Orphanage Support

Spread the Joy Holiday Celebration for Divine Mercy Orphanage, reaching 60 children

First orphanage support initiative with food, clothing, and supply distributions at Divine Mercy

Launched Healing HeArts art and recreation days, along with the first Spring Eggstravaganza

Impact: More than 200 children uplifted through nourishment, creativity, and celebration

2008

Incorporation & Emergency Relief

Spread the Joy Holiday Celebration for Divine Mercy Orphanage, reaching 60 children

First orphanage support initiative providing food, clothing, and essential supplies at Divine Mercy

Launched Healing HeArts art and recreation days, along with the first Spring Eggstravaganza

Impact: More than 200 children uplifted through nourishment, creativity, and celebration

2009

Education & Relief Expansion

First mission trip providing relief to orphanages, schools, and underserved communities, reaching 1,600 people

Spread the Joy holiday event expanded to a dozen orphanages

Impact: More than 4,000 children and families supported

2010

Earthquake Response & 501(c)(3) Status

SAS granted 501(c)(3) nonprofit status in the USA.

Conducted assessments of over 250 orphanages in Haiti.

Massive earthquake response: tents, food, medical supplies, water filters, and meals delivered to hospitals, orphanages, and camps.

Coordinated and distributed foreign aid with the 82nd Airborne Division of the U.S. Army.

Impact: Over 400,000 people received emergency relief and 1 million meals were distributed.

2011

Building the Four Pillars of SAS

Established long-term programs in education, shelter, health, and arts & recreation

Delivered mattresses, school supplies, food support, and health care evaluations

Launched the Water Angels Project, bringing clean water to 80,000 people

Built the first playground in Faucher

Hosted Santa’s Wonderland holiday event with Kim Kardashian, Ben Stiller, Donna Karan, and others, reaching 1,000 children

Impact: More than 90,000 lives touched across multiple pillars

2012

Healing HeArts & Global Awareness

Emergency response to Hurricanes Sandy and Isaac, assisting 7,000 people

Created the first Healing HeArts community mosaic mural at Timkatec with Gary Nader, engaging 600 children

Launched the Raise for Love global fundraising campaign

Partnered with IBESR to relocate abused children from unsafe facilities

Expanded Healing HeArts in collaboration with Urban Zen and Donna Karan

Annual Spread the Joy and Spring Eggstravaganza celebrations reached 1,500 children

Impact: More than 10,000 children and families supported

2013

Arts, Environment & Clean Water

Hosted Circus of Dreams and Summer Escape events, reaching 870 children

Launched Earth Day Summit and tree-planting initiative in Cité Soleil, engaging 850 people

Play, Wellness & Regional Reach

Built Project Playworld Eco Playground in Cité Soleil, benefiting 1,000 children

Responded to the Chikungunya outbreak with medical supplies, assisting 2,000 people

Introduced Mind Body Wellness yoga and meditation programs in orphanages, hospitals, and communities with Urban Zen, reaching 2,000 people

Expanded to Jamaica with the Gift of Sight initiative, providing free eye exams and glasses to 2,000 people

Annual Spread the Joy celebration reached 500 children

Impact: More than 7,500 children and families supported in Haiti and Jamaica

2015

Girls’ Health, Creativity & Care

Launched the Health & Hygiene Girls Initiative with Rihanna’s Clara Lionel Foundation, reaching 2,000 children

Completed a recreational room makeover and mosaic mural at Timkatec Orphanage, benefiting 600 children

Expanded Mind Body Wellness programs in orphanages, communities, and hospitals, supporting 2,000 children

Partnered with Mikaben for food and supply distributions to orphanages

Organized shoe drives and education sponsorships with Haiti Rising at MDA Orphanage, assisting 235 children

Introduced the New Year’s Soup Drive for hospitals and orphanages, serving 1,000 children

2016

Growth & Hurricane Matthew Response

Supported orphanages for children with special needs in Île-à-Vache, serving 80 children

Expanded Mind Body Wellness programs, reaching 2,000 people

Hired Sow A Seed’s first administrative staff

Responded to Hurricane Matthew with large-scale emergency relief, assisting 412,000 people

Continued education sponsorships at MDA Orphanage, supporting 60 children

Annual Spread the Joy celebration reached 1,000 children

Impact: More than 415,000 people supported through wellness, education, and relief

2017

Education for Development & Community Empowerment

Partnered with Haiti’s First Lady to launch Education for Development, distributing more than 5,000 back-to-school kits nationwide

Partnered with artist Kanis to support orphanages, reaching 65 children

Expanded agricultural initiatives by distributing tools and seeds across southern Haiti, benefiting 50,000 people

Organized mobile health clinics in Anse du Clerc and Port-au-Prince, serving 1,500 people

Delivered food, hygiene kits, toys, and bicycles to 500 families in Anse du Clerc, reaching 3,000 people

Rebuilt homes and distributed construction materials in the Bonga mountains, assisting 600 people

Annual Spread the Joy celebration reached 1,500 children

Impact: More than 65,000 people supported through education, wellness, agriculture, and relief

2018

Back-to-School & Wellness

Partnered with influencers and Miss Florida/Miss Dominican Republic to distribute education kits, reaching 5,100 children

Education Amid Crisis

Sponsored education at MDA Orphanage, supporting 60 children annually

Distributed educational coloring books with Miss Universe runner-up Raquel Pelissier and storybooks with Susan Marie Chapman in Haiti and Miami

Annual Spread the Joy celebration reached 86 children

Political unrest in 2019 and the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 temporarily paused operations

Impact: More than 300 children supported despite national crises

2021

Earthquake Relief & Education Revival

Earthquake response provided aid to 45 orphanages, 38 communities, and 3 hospitals, reaching 76,502 people

Distributed 100,000 masks during the COVID-19 pandemic

Provided back-to-school kits, lunch kits, and recreation kits for children affected by the earthquake, supporting 6,500 children

Sponsored education at MDA Orphanage, assisting 60 children

Annual Spread the Joy celebration reached 900 children

Impact: More than 181,000 lives supported through relief, education, tuition and health

2022

Community Resilience & Wellness

Emergency distributions to 24 orphanages, reaching 816 children

Earth Day tree planting with 100 children

Expanded education sponsorships and distributed back-to-school kits to 2,460 children

Launched a dental program serving 156 children

Haiti: Led cholera prevention initiatives at St. Luke Hospital (120 patients) and the male prison cholera unit (80 patients), with 25 volunteers from the U.S. and Haiti

Miami: Hosted a Thanksgiving drive with Sant La for Little Haiti families, supporting 260 families (1,040 people)

2023–2024

Displacement & Community Care

Supported the Furcy mountain community with back-to-school programs, agronomy education, and vocational training, benefiting 400 children annually

Provided emergency food and clothing relief for families displaced by gang violence in Belo and Kenscoff, assisting around 1,000 people

Collaborated with KOF to strengthen programs in the Furcy mountain community, supporting 400 children annually through education and vocational training

Impact: More than 1,800 children and families sustained through education and relief

2025

Expansion & Peacebuilding

Relaunch of Sow A Seed with a renewed vision focused on holistic empowerment, creative healing, and sustainable community development

Corail Canaan Youth Empowerment Program served 130 children and adults through sports, arts, trauma counseling, and peace education

Bois Moquette Peace Education Program reached 140 students, teachers, and parents with trauma-informed support, peace practices, and creative expression

Impact: More than 270 children, families, and educators engaged in peace and healing
