As we get ready for our Earth Day series of planting and sowing seeds at SAS-supported orphanages, we can’t believe it’s been nearly a decade since our first-ever Haiti Earth Summit! 🌳 Flashback to April 2013, when Sow a Seed, along with Haiti Resilience System, Maya Nut-Chokagou Initiative, Earth Day Network, MUCI AVM, Village La Reference, Caroline Sada and the Ambassador to Haiti's Ministry of Environment collaborated together on organizing the first ever Haiti Earth Summit. The main mission of the summit was to bring awareness to reforestation, agro-forestry and social innovation campaigns in Haiti. 💚

Thanks to supporters like you, we’re able to expand our services to support more orphanages in Haïti 💗

Can you believe we’re in April? So much has happened @sowaseed this last quarter. A major news is that we met with social services to renew our work and collaboration and assessed 11 more orphanages in the Port-au-Prince area. Our Field Coordinator Brizzard visited and assessed these orphanages and facilities to determine what their needs are and those of the children they serve. Following these assessments along with your continued support and donations, we were able to plan, organize and start our distributions to these orphanages. Our team of volunteers put together hygiene kits, lunch kits, new blankets, clothes, and food items. We were able to serve over 300 children in the Tabarre, Delmas and Petion Ville communes.

And we’re just getting started 💕

“Today, World Water Day, celebrates water and raises awareness of the 2 billion people currently living without access to safe water. A core focus of World Water Day is to inspire action towards Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 6: water and sanitation for all by 2030.” —UN World Water Day Observance.

💦 Sow a Seed is committed to providing clean water to its supported orphanages. With our Water Angels project, we have provided clean drinking water to children and communities since 2012 in which funds also helped install water purification systems in orphanages and a storefront in several communities, where 100 percent of the profits from water sales are used toward achieving self-sustainability.
