Since the devastating 7.0 earthquake that struck Haiti on August 14, 2021, affecting Haiti’s beautiful southern peninsula, SOW A SEED‘s relief and recovery efforts have impacted:

—  46 orphanages, including 1471 orphans and supplied them with food, water, tarps, filters, hygiene kits, clothing and shoes;

— 41,126 people in 38 communities in the areas of South Nippes and Grand’ Anse departments along with 130 relief and recovery distributions of essential supplies;

— 2,300 children and supplied them with resilience kits to help them cope with post traumatic stress in both the South and in Nippes departments.

Within hours of the August 14th earthquake, SOW A SEED took action in assessing, setting up fundraising platforms and bringing immediate relief to those most in need. Thanks to the support of our donors, fundraisers, our collaborative partners and our dedicated volunteers, SOW A SEED was able to serve more than 40,000 people by end of 2021.

Making communal spaces operational to serve the population, we have also distributed mega tarps to several hospitals, one church, the IBESR South headquarters. 

Our efforts have impacted several towns including Jérémie, Marceline, Bellevue, Cayes, Chantal, Torbeck, St Louis, Morency, Aquin, St Jean du Sud, St Louis du Sud, Île à Vache, Cavaillon, Les Anglais, Maniche, Camp Perrin, Anse à Veau, Miragoâne, Paillant, Plaisance, Fond des Nègres, and Grand Boukan.

To support the local economy, and for maximum efficacy while observing health and safety precautions, SOW A SEED raised over $70,000 in online donations in addition to a value of $250,000 in monetary/in-kind donations from private and public sector. This support enabled us to purchase supplies locally or collect the supplies needed immediately. Our tier sponsors included Hero, Champions, Advocates, Benefactors and a list of supporters, fundraisers and donors.
