EARTHQUAKE RELIEF
In wake of the devastating earthquake of 2010, SAS expanded its traditional efforts to help the relief and rebuilding of Haiti.
Collecting relief goods and monetary donations from around the world, Fundraising with citizens from around the globe and laboring on aid shipments around the clock;
With volunteers and caring citizens we have made a great impact and brought much relief to the distressed island.
With the help of our Haitian team, local professionals who are familiar with the terrain and people, we have been successful in dispatching supplies directly to orphanages, hospitals, and camps and in assisting large organizations facing logistical challenges on the ground in Haiti.
With our experience and local know how, we developed assessment forms and built teams responsible for conducting in depth evaluations of each orphanage’s current conditions and its most pressing needs.
Assisted by the 82nd Airborne Division of the USA, these teams brought help to over 250 orphanages in all corners of Haiti.
Hospitals, makeshift clinics and campsites also benefitted from our efforts.
Sow a Seed has delivered medical supplies, surgical equipment, linens and mattresses to over a dozen hospitals throughout Haiti. To name a few, aid was sent to L’Hôpital de la Communauté Haïtienne, Hôpital Nos Petits Frères et Soeurs, Hôpital General and Centre de Santé de Bel Air. Sow a Seed has also assigned medical personnel and volunteers to countless clinics, medical organizations and orphanages, and delivered insulin and diabetic supplies to the Haitian Foundation for Diabetes and Cardiovascular Diseases.
We have also served over 100,000 people at various campsites throughout Haiti including Jacmel, Gressier, Pignon and Port-au-Prince, supplying them with tents, food, water, hygiene supplies and clothing.
